History of the Fender Guitar
One of the most popular guitar companies and definitely one of the most influential contributions ever in modern music was the Fender guitar. With the introduction of these solid body electric guitars, basses and amplifiers, Fender helped the smaller bands be heard in bigger venues a lot better than using acoustic instruments. The inventor of the Fender guitar, Leo Fender, guitar developed a solid-body guitar in 1951 called the Broadcaster. Fender went out and asked professional guitarists and Fender staff what they wanted in a so he could improve the Telecaster.

Guitars and Basses were not all that Fender produced during this time. A group of investors and Fender employees purchased the Fender Company and put William Schultz in charge. With the ownership including people that have such a passion for guitars, like the Fender employees, Fender got even better.

The Fender Custom Shop is located in Corona, California where they make custom guitars for professional guitar players and guitar enthusiasts. Fender still thinks like this today and continue to give their customers the best Fender guitar that they can make.

The Fascinating History of Fender Guitars
By William Jason

One of the most famous guitar manufacturers in the world is Fender. Fender wasn't the first manufacturer to produce electric guitars, but they were one of the most successful. Started in 1938 by Leo Fender, the company was originally named "Fender's Radio Service" and he repaired radios and amplifiers. The partners then split up when Fender wanted to focus on the designing of the guitars, and created the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. Through the creation of this company, Fender was able to create the first electric guitar with a solid body, the famous Stratocaster. The Stratocaster or Strat, was designed by Leo Fender in 1954 and is one of the most famous and enduring electric guitars in the world. In 1965, Leo Fender sold his company for approximately $13 million to CBS. Then in 1995, Fender bought out Guild Guitar to acquire its manufacturing plant in Rhode Island.

Fender Vintage Guitars

While any Fender instrument is a good instrument, whether vintage or new, the most collectible ones were created before CBS purchased the Fender Company and changed their guitars. The best guitars for collectors were those created before 1966.

Part of the appeal of Fender vintage guitars was that they were known as custom-contoured and exceedingly well-made. The Fender Stratocaster, one of the most desirable Fender vintage guitars sought by collectors today, was even changed with the move to the large peg head style.

With CBS came mass production with its cheaper materials to maximize profits, ruining the classic look and feel of Fender vintage guitars produced after 1965. The least collectible Fender vintage guitars are those produced during the transition to CBS ownership and management, from about summer 1964 to December of the following year.

The first Fender vintage guitars were the Esquire, the Broadcaster and the Telecaster, the last two of which were actually virtually the same guitar. This guitar, and their 1954 creation of the Stratocaster, actually served to popularize the solid-bodied electric guitar and are sought out by those collect Fender vintage guitars.

This instrument set the standard for all other bass instruments.

History

It is said the Leo Fender couldn't play the guitar... and he was tone deaf.

The American Series Stratocasters are, as the name suggests actually made in America whereas the Standard strats are made in Mexico. American Series versions are considered to be overwhelmingly better than the Standard versions and their price reflects that gap too.

The History Of Guitar Fenders

By Bill McRea

Fender® is currently one of the premier electric guitar manufacturers out there. The instrument manufacturing aspect of the company had its beginnings in 1946 when Leo Fender began building them. However, the company actually started in 1938 and was called Fender’s Radio Services. Kauffman wanted to focus more on repair and Fender wanted to focus on the design aspect. This is when Fender started his company, the Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Corporation and is now called the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation.

Fender® played a huge role in creating solid body guitars and making them widely available. Now, there are over 26 styles of Fender® electric guitars available. The Stratocaster line has expanded to include special series modeled after celebrity artists such as David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. For a complete list, visit the official Fender® website.

Fender® also boasts a list of artists who play their electric guitars. Fender ’62 Stratocaster Reissue

Fender Starter Guitar Review

By Mike Ferraro

Everyone loves music. A half decent cheap guitar used to cost a couple of hundred dollars. Most parents would love to see their kids learn an instrument and develop their musical talents. Most parents also fear that the novelty will wear off of the item and the instrument will just collect dust in the corner, after spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on instruments and equipment.

Thankfully enough, fender guitars has released a VERY affordable starter pack, called the Fender Starcaster Starter Kit. Not only do you get a high quality great sounding guitar, it comes with a soft case, a guitar amplifier, guitar picks, a patch cord, and a music book.

Leonidas Fender

In 1938, a man named Leonidas Fender, spent most of his time as an electronics technician repairing radio equipment and PAs.

The Fender Standard

There is little argument that Leonidas Fender had a direct affect on America's participation in the Rock and Roll movement of the sixties. Fender has made some of the most well known, best selling guitars on the market and knowing what's what in the world of Fender can make all the difference in play quality.

The History of the electric Guitars

When most people think of electric guitars, they think of rock music. But electric guitars are more versatile than you'd think. Performers experimented with attaching microphones to acoustic guitars. The first manufactured electric guitars were made in 1931 by the Electro String Instrument Corporation.

Bandleader Gage Brewer of Wichita, Kansas, received two electric guitars directly through Electro String Instruments, possibly for publicity purposes. The earliest known recording of an electric guitar performance was produced in 1938. The earliest electric guitars were essentially hollow-bodied acoustic guitars equipped with Tungsten pickups. The problem with hollow-body electric guitars is that the hollow space within the guitar produces vibrations when the strings are plucked or strummed. One of the earlier solid-body guitars was an aluminium instrument known as the "Frying Pan" or "Pancake Guitar." These guitars were said to have produced a sound similar to that of modern electric guitars.

Several other well-known luthiers experimented with solid-body guitars during the early history of the electric guitar. This created demand among the general public for affordable electric guitars. It wasn't until the 1980's that Japanese manufacturers stepped forward with affordable electric guitars capable of professional-quality sound. Soon, electric guitars were more accessible than they had ever been.

Today, the electric guitar is one of the most prolific instruments in popular music.

Jaguar and Jazzmaster Connoisseurs…

Help! I lost the original trem-arm of my ‘68 Jazzmaster! You’ve come to my very own place of worship of Fender’s Jazzmaster and Jaguar, the wonderful, but often underrated guitars, once designed to be the top-of-the-line models in Fender’s production line.

back by public demand: the original tiki-island artwork by itsatom.de:sign – available as postcard, too :-))

Back in the early nineties there was me, barely able to play an E-major properly, in front of this small guitar store in an even smaller street in my home town… window-gazing and wondering “what the heck is this thing over there in the dark corner with all that chrome and those many switches?”. (My very first guitar was a night black “Shot” Stratocaster-copy. One of the first sites I came across was the “Vintage Guitar Info Site” by CFH, a great source and still around. Likewise is Mel Waldorf’s “Jaguar and Jazzmaster Page“.
