Fender Squier Strat Replacement Strings?
Been playing my Squier Strat for awhile and I think it's time to change the strings...
So the manual for the Squier Strat says nickel plated steel strings from .009 to .049 gauge and heavily recommends using Fender made strings. Has anyone tried any other strings like maybe Ernie Ball super slinky nickel wound pinks? They look like they would fit the bill for the wound strings, but the plain strings are tin plated. What about other strings on the market? I'm quite interested in hearing others experiences with "third party" strings. Worried about accuracy in game, strings aren't really that expensive but I'd rather not waste money if I don't have to.

Really? Do you mean for people who use the guitar outside of the game? I have the same strings I got with the guitar back in March and don't plan on changing them until I break one. I don't care about the sound though as I never play the squier through an amp. I gave up on that pretty quickly and got a better guitar.

They're shorter and thicker and not played the same way or with a pick, but the D'Addario strings on my infrequently but semi-regularly played sitting out in the living room cheap beater short scale four string have been on there for like 5 years. YMMV
Playing will eventually coat the strings and such in sweat and oils and dead skin from the hands. Playing often makes it go faster, even faster if you usually play while eating or right after eating fried chicken. That dirt and grime and so on makes the strings sound dull and the like when playing through an amp. Some musicians that favor a single guitar change them before every gig, mainly because of the threat of strings breaking though. But if playing alone on a muted RB3 Squier, probably no need to worry about breaking strings and for the sound, no big difference. Some might suggest changing the strings when they break or when the player hates how they feel (smell, sound, taste, look, whatever).
Any super light (or whatever) that's for an electric amped guitar type should work. You can find 9 11 15 24 32 42 (23 28 41 61 81 107) steel nickel string sets on eBay for like $2 to $5.
