Fender Telecaster Electric Guitars
By Mike Furlong
History
There were other solid body electric guitars before the Fender Telecaster guitar. Leo later created the successful Stratocaster guitar.
Body
The Telecaster is a single cutaway guitar.
Neck
The Telecaster had a one piece maple neck, one of Fender's many innovative design and manufacturing techniques.
Pickups
Originally Fender sold a single pickup guitar called the Esquire. The Telecaster had a three position switch to select the pickups. Musicians and Fender have tried other pickup combinations on the Tele, including using double coil or "humbucking" pickups.
Company History
Fender had a troubled history after CBS bought it 1965.
Future
Today there are numerous models of American Standard Telecasters available from Fender in various price ranges.

The Fender Telecaster
By Payo W Perry
Telecasters normally have 2 pickups, one positioned at the bridge and the other positioned at the neck of the guitar. At the bridge position the Telecaster will produce a sharper tone with more bite and attack while the neck position is smoother and has more warmth. It's a solid body guitar and its design has remained mostly untouched ever since its first incarnation. There are also some very famous blues guitar players who have adopted a Tele as their principal guitar, just pushing the distortion into break-up with a harder attack.
